Posters
When my father, the painter Folmer Bendtsen, died in 1993, I found a beautiful, old lithographic poster from 1954 in his stash. The poster was produced in connection with an art exhibition at Charlottenborg and both the motif and text were drawn and executed by him himself in collaboration with a lithographic workshop. The discovery of the poster really piqued my interest in lithographic exhibition posters. In the past, these posters were not so uncommon and until around the 1970s, printing (offset) was a relatively expensive process and the reproduction of the works was rarely of particularly good quality.
The artists therefore often chose to draw the posters for their exhibitions themselves in the workshop where they had their turn in connection with the production of lithographs. The result was more beautiful and the as yet unknown, and often rather poor, artists could thus keep their expenses down in connection with an exhibition.
For many artists, the lithographic poster is still today an expression of good artistic quality.

Frames
I make hand-gilded frames for the posters myself, some are framed in simple wooden frames, others in the hand-gilded frames and thus the posters get the rebirth they deserve due to their high quality.
The frames I make have different designs and styles. Depending on the expression and line of the posters, they can be placed against the classic old French mirror frame, but the more modern and tight expression can also be achieved with the right frame profile. The frames, which are hand-gilded and hand-polished, are all individually manufactured, so that each frame is unique.
