Original lithographic poster with art by Michel de Gallard for exhibition of his ‘Natures Mortes’ at Galerie David et Garnier in 1965.
Michel de Gallard was a French figurative painter associated with the post-war "miserabilist" movement. His work is noted for its expressive landscapes and urban scenes that reflect the somber mood of post-war France. De Gallard was a key figure in the "Jeune Peinture" movement, co-founding the Salon de la Jeune Peinture in 1950. He was also a member of the "L’Homme Témoin" group, which opposed abstract art and emphasized figurative painting.
His paintings often depict rural and urban landscapes, characterized by muted tones and a melancholic atmosphere. Over time, his focus shifted increasingly towards landscapes, capturing the essence of the French countryside.
The piece is framed with a narrow hand silvered frame, with light passepartout, and is placed on a blue-green background.
