Corneille (Guillaume Cornelis van Beverloo) was a Dutch painter, printmaker, and sculptor who was one of the co-founders of the influential avant-garde art movement COBRA (1948–1951). His work is celebrated for its vivid use of color, childlike spontaneity, and imaginative compositions that often feature elements of nature, animals, and fantastical imagery. Corneille's art frequently depicted themes of nature, womanhood, birds, flowers, and landscapes. His compositions combined abstract forms with figurative elements, creating a dreamlike quality. He described his artistic vision as "poetic" and often painted with an intuitive approach, letting emotions guide his creations.

The piece is framed with two layers of glass which makes the background transparent. This makes the background of the piece visible and here you can read an exhibition-related text about the artist. It features a recorded conversation from January 8, 1966, in Corneille's atelier in Paris. The discussion includes notable art figures like Ceres Franco, Mario Pedrosa, Jean Boghici, and José Carlos de Oliveira. These individuals were discussing Corneille's art, its impact, and interpretations

The frame is hand silvered and patinated, framed between 2 layers of glass.
