Jean Cocteau was a French poet, writer, painter and film director. Though he always claimed that he was first and foremost a poet. Cocteau was associated with the Surrealist movement and had close relationships with other avant-garde artists, including Pablo Picasso. Cocteau's versatility allowed him to cross boundaries between different forms of art. He was not only a writer and filmmaker but also a talented visual artist, creating drawings, paintings, and set designs that complemented his literary and cinematic works.
The piece is framed with an antique hand gilded frame, warm brown passepartout, and a light background.
