Original lithographic poster with impressive artwork by Jean Lurçat for exhibition at Palais de l’Europe in Menton 1975.

Lurçat was a French artist who became known for his role in the revival of contemporary tapestries.

Jean Lurçat began as a painter and tapestry weaver in 1915. He became intrigued by tapestry weaving when he learned of its history. Lurçat was especially influenced by Apocalypse of Angiers which he viewed in 1937. He came away from this experience more sure that emotional content and reduction of means, or "scale of pre-arranged color" were of ultimate importance to tapestry design.

The poster is framed with a hand painted frame cobalt blue frame and teal passepartout and background.

H 95 x W 57 cm.
