Original lithographic cover of the art magazine ‘Art d'Aujourd'hui’ from the 1950s. Art d'Aujourd'hui was a significant French contemporary art magazine published between 1949 and 1954. It played a pivotal role in promoting modernist and avant-garde movements in post-war Europe.

The art is by Sonia Delaunay, who was a Ukrainian-French artist and key figure in the development of abstract art and the Orphism movement. Sonia and Robert Delaunay co-founded the Orphism movement, a branch of Cubism that focused on the use of vivid colors and geometric shapes to create abstract compositions. They believed that color could be the expressive element that unifies a painting. She is also referred to as the mother of abstract art. Her work included painting, textile design and scenography.

The piece is framed with a hand made oak wood frame and is placed on a light background.

H 41 x W 34 cm.
