Wilhelm Freddie was a Danish painter, sculptor, and filmmaker, best known for his provocative and surrealist works. He played a crucial role in introducing Surrealism to Denmark and was often at the center of controversy due to his erotic, political, and anti-fascist themes. Many of his works contained explicit sexual imagery, challenging conservative norms in Denmark and beyond. In the 1930s and 1940s, his works were deemed obscene, leading to seizures by authorities and even imprisonment for "indecency".
The piece is framed with a vintage hand lacquered dark red frame ,with a hand silvered inner edge and with light passepartout on a rosy background.
