Cícero Dias was a seminal Brazilian modernist painter, illustrator, and scenographer, renowned for blending figurative and abstract styles with influences from surrealism and regional Brazilian culture. Dias's early works were characterized by dreamlike imagery, vibrant colors, and elements of surrealism, often depicting scenes from his childhood in northeastern Brazil. After the war, Dias's work evolved towards abstraction, and he became involved with the geometric abstraction movement.
